Eve got her first splinter today at the playground. It’s a long story, but we eventually got it out. She is so sweet. Lex got his first splinter last year at the same playground!

Muffims
Eve and I made muffins yesterday. I haven’t baked (besides bread) in so long. They are delicious. Lex did not want to help (he’s still a bit sick, so that’s probably for the best). Instead he decided to draw a picture of muffins while we baked. I love it!
I was still cleaning up the kitchen (before baking!) when he finished, so he decided to hang it on the microwave to help me stay focused :) Very helpful!
School vacation, off to a not-so-great start
I forgot to add to my last post that Alan and I had an fun date night last night! His company had “Family Movie Night” and they bought tickets and concessions for all employees and family at a local theater. We got to choose the film and time. Alan and I decided to get a babysitter and have a date instead of a family movie (nothing kid friendly playing!) Anyway, we saw Date Night, which was hilarious!! Especially for an old married couple! There were a few lines by Tina Fey that cracked up just the women in the room. Such as her yelling to a bunch of men holding guns, “My kids are going to have me up in 90 minutes! This ends now!!” Anyway, it was fun.
Today was the first day of school vacation. We spent the morning doing what we used to do, playing, relaxing and exercising. We all napped and then Lex woke up ready to play Sorry. He beat me twice and then let me win (seriously!) the third time. By the end he was complaining that he’s too tired to move his pieces, and then too tired to get down from the table. I carried him to the couch where he promptly threw up! Ugh! So we spent the afternoon on the couch, watching Wall-E and throwing up. Fun, fun. I just emailed the mother of tomorrow’s playdate to cancel that. Hopefully he wakes up feeling top-notch tomorrow! More importantly, hopefully he makes it through tonight vomit free!!
From the camera
I have been thinking that there isn’t much blog-worthy stuff going on around here lately, but this morning I took a look at the camera and found lots to talk about! Guess there is plenty of blog-worthy stuff, just not enough blogging!
Artwork
Lex has been on a drawing frenzy lately and I love watching how his artwork and his stories improve with each one. He came home with half a drawing the other day and said it was for his teacher. He finished it in the afternoon, told me the whole story behind it, and then brought it to school the next day. Here are two that he made for us.

A drawing of Alan's office. The word says Mascoma, which is the name on the building. Lex made the picture for Alan to take to work with him.

This is a drawing Lex made for me. There is a mom and kid playing outside while the dad is inside making lunch. The light blue windows are rooms with lights on, the dark blue window is a room with no light on. The green things are the roof are fallen leaves. I love the detail! The back says, TO TESSA :)
Eve
Beautiful Eve, drawing on a sunny day.
Pedaling!
The past few days have been cold and rainy, so it’s funny to look at the camera and remember that just a few days ago it was 70’s and sunny! The bike helmets we ordered through school finally came in and the kids were thrilled to go out riding! Yay! Lex refused to wear a helmet last summer and therefore did no bike riding. I was hoping it would be different this year. The first thing he says to me, “I’m a little nervous to go down that big hill,” meaning a VERY big hill with a busy road at the bottom that our 5yr old neighbor rides down, completely out of control and usually crashing at the bottom. It makes my heart stop. I told Lex that he had no need to worry because he would not be riding down that hill for a very long time!! We will be sticking to our safe little street until he is a much more confident bike rider. (and until I am a braver mommy!)

Aren't they cute!?! Eve's helmet is a little big, but I'm not too worried since her bike is pretty small :)
Dressed Doggie
Eve’s doggie made a rare appearance downstairs after she insisted on dressing it to the nines. Undies, skirt, shirt and sweater. I let her bring doggie downstairs to show daddy, and so I could take a picture! She is so proud. :)
Big girl
This is probably a funny thing to post about, but I’m gonna anyway. The night before last Eve was in an odd mood. She went to bed ok, but when I changed her diaper before I went to bed she woke up and was talking and being very silly. At one point she held up her doggie and said “This is a funny doggie. He says weef!” Normally she sleeps right through the diaper changes. She was up several times during the night. I kept putting her back to bed. At one point Alan got up and found her sitting on the toilet. She said she had to poop, but apparently she just peed. He brought her back to bed with us (which is always where she wants to be!). It’s fun to snuggle with her, but he falls asleep quickly and I do not, so we cuddled for awhile, she got up to get her doggie and came back, and was very fidgety. Sweet, but fidgety. After awhile (I loose track of time in the middle of the night!) I asked if she wanted to be very still and quiet or go back to her own bed. She chose back to bed. Normally I’d take her back, but this time I just rolled her out of bed and sent her on her way. A few minutes later I heard her in the bathroom again. I got up, very annoyed, and went in to find her throwing up in the toilet!! Poor girl! I was all ready to grumpily put her back to bed, but there she was. When I walked in she smiled at me and said, “I did a good job. I got all of my throw-up in the toilet, not on the floor.” She’s such a big girl! I think she must have eaten something bad because she wasn’t really sick. She commented on the color of her throw-up and tried to guess what it was, a fun game to play in the middle of the night. Then she smiled and went to bed. I guess that explains the awakeness and fidgeting. Then I felt guilty for being on the verge of yelling at her. She’s so sweet. Then she slept until about 8:30 in the morning!
Bella Band
We went shopping last week when Alan had the day off and I bought a Coke (to ease the nausea), running shoes, and a Bella Band. I never had one with the other pregnancies (I used rubber bands instead!) but it looked neat. Heading home I was laughing at the combination of things I had purchased. The running shoes are awesome. I finally got a chance to go out this weekend. The weather has been beautiful, but when I had time with no kids it was 40 and windy!! Oh well, I went anyway! I couldn’t make it as far as I was last fall, but I did ok.
Yesterday I was feeling fat and blah and dreading buttoning my jeans. The day before I put on a pair of slacks instead of jeans. They used to be my “skinny pants” but now they are too big. :) Eve saw them and said, “Ohh… you look fancy!” Baggy slacks with a pen mark on them. Goes to show what my normal attire is! Anyway, yesterday I was back in jeans and after unbuttoning them in the car and accidentally leaving them unbuttoned while I did some shopping at the produce market (oops!) I remembered the Bella Band! Yay! It’s very comfy, though I’m still playing with how to wear it just right. Happy 10 weeks belly! :)
Nothing to say
How’s that for a blog title? I really have not much to say, but I know people get antsy if I don’t update the blog in awhile :) We are keeping busy. Eve had her last swimming lesson yesterday and “graduated” with big smiles. She will be moving up to the next class and, likely, be in the same group as Lex. He has his last lesson today. We shall see if the teacher wants him to move up. I’m not sure. They start again in two weeks. They love swimming! I find it exhausting. Ok, these days I find everything exhausting! I’m starting to get some energy back though. I’ve made it through to the end of the day without turning into a total grouch for the past few days. Today Lex and I fought at naptime so I told him I wouldn’t nap with him. I think it’s more of a punishment for me though! He was bummed, but I think he’ll act sweet for tomorrow’s nap. Now I’m sitting here wishing I was napping. I know I could just nap in my own bed, but it’s not the same. We’ll see if I survive swimming this afternoon and still manage to me a nice mommy to the end. Anyway, seriously not much to say. :) I’m going to lay down and watch TV now and pretend my house doesn’t need to be cleaned, the laundry doesn’t need to be folded, and dinner doesn’t need to be prepped.
Adventures with daddy
The kids have had several fun adventures with daddy lately. Last Monday I had to do some almost-overdue work for Good Beginnings so Alan decided to take the kids to the playground. He had the day off, it was nice. They packed a bag and walked to Dothan Brook (where Lex will be going to school). Alan saw a playground full of kids and decided to go into the school to see if school was still in session. I know the school hours, which is why it would have been a boring trip to the playground with me, but ended up being an exciting adventure with Alan. They went in and spoke with someone they met in the hall. Turns out she was the music teacher and apparently very nice. So Alan asked if there was any way they could see the kindergarten classrooms. She got a janitor who opened the doors for them and they all got a tour of the classrooms. How cool! I have a “transition to kindergarten” plan in my head and this was a very sweet bonus! After that they played on the playground and then took the city bus to the post office where I met them (I was headed there anyway). They all bounced in the car bubbling with stories about their adventures. So cute.
Today I slept in (after watching The Bourne Ultimatum until 11:30pm last night!) and Alan got up with the kids. Then he decided to take them for another adventure. They went to KMart to buy kites, went to a local ball field to fly them, went to a local Energy store to talk about solar hot water storage systems, and ended at a restaurant for lunch. The kids had a blast. I did some cleaning, went for a run, took a shower, ate a healthy lunch, read a magazine, and had a blast! :) They came home with stories of kite flying and XO laptops and half eaten grilled cheese sandwiches. Funny kids. They are lucky to have such an adventuresome daddy!
Stylish, even at the grocery store
We went grocery shopping today and Eve wore this:
She is such a stylish girl :) She got oohhs and ahhhs all morning, from everyone! She, of course, hammed it up and loved it. Wish I could look half as good as her on any given day!
