Schedule success

Lex looked at the schedule this morning and said, “Oh, it’s 9:30, we should be doing arts and crafts. I think we should paint!” So paint we did. :) He made a nice painting of a house and a kid and a tree and slide, while she made a nice painting of a mud puddle! They both had a blast.

I was looking at the schedule when I hung it up and felt a little bad that it was so “reader” oriented. I used to have a daily schedule on the wall that involved many pages with pictures of clocks and food and playgrounds. Remember that? I can’t find a post on the blog to link to, but it doesn’t matter. I think that kind of thing helped Lex with his reading and now I feel bad that Eve isn’t getting the same thing. Sigh. This schedule was driven more by my needs for a set exercise and cleaning time though. Maybe I’ll make a version for her as well. Hmmm….

Our first road race!

We did it! We ran a 4 mile race! I am more surprised by this than Alan :) He was a bit more confident. He’s so sweet he ran with me for the first 3+ miles to keep me motivated. It was fun. He started his final sprint before I did and we came in at 41:50 and 44:04. Hot and sweaty and happy! :) The kids were whining about being left behind, but they they were whining when the babysitter left because they were having fun and wanted her to stay. I’m glad we got a babysitter. The whole thing was a bit confusing (what with it being our first and all) and it was nice not to have to keep track of the kids as well. There is a half marathon in August that we may do a relay team for. They do 3.x mile, 6.x mile, 3.x mile legs. I can’t do the whole 13.1 total, but I can handle a 3 mile leg and maybe the 6 mile one. We shall see!
