Lex’s class does an activity they call Incredible Equations each morning. The kids have to think of equations that equal the date. For example, on December 5th, they could say 4+1. That’s an example most 1st graders would say. Lex prefers more complex equations, often involving multiplication and division. When I asked him if he came up with an equation today he said his was 10×2+4×2=28. (Alan is reading over my shoulder and told me there’s no need to type the parentheses because Lex knows about order of operations as of last week.)
I can’t wait for his parent teacher conference next week!
“Whoa! Tell me I’m not dreaming!!” he said when we pulled out the Legos.
“Lex, you are the smartest person I know, other than Mrs. Burriss (their teacher).” Lex’s reply, “Yeah.” :)

Lex lost another tooth this morning! The front right tooth. One of those wiggly, sticky-outy ones :-) He refuses to flash a toothless smile for the camera though.

Picture of metro station and list of public transportation around the world. (Thanks for the help Rosy!!)

Today I am thankful for blocks. These blocks were the best purchase ever! It’s a totally mismatched set I bought for $5 at a daycare’s going out of business sale many years ago. The kids LOVE them. They are currently on the floor in the kitchen/dining room area and they get so much use there! It’s nice having the kids around so we can chat and I can see their creative brains at work, but still get stuff done in the kitchen.
Lex made our street in blocks today.

Our street is red, the neighboring street is yellow and blue. See the green arrow pointing to our house? Microhouses, as he calls them. The house across the street is a double because "Emily's house is very long."
We also had an exciting morning… more on that in another post.
