Poker

Lex likes to play with cards (sorts them,
arranges them, etc.) and was thrilled when Alan offered to
teach him how to play poker. They started with learning the
cards. This little scene cracked me up because we’ve never done
flash cards with Lex and it’s amusing to start with poker cards
:)

After dinner Lex and I were talking about a
poker party. Wouldn’t that be a great 3rd birthday? All the
little kiddies playing cards… anteing with animal crackers :)
(I’m alone with kids all day and have to find ways to entertain
myself)

Outside!!

I’m so proud of myself, I got 4 kids into
snowsuits and outside today!!! It was 31 degrees and somewhat raining, but what the hell. We had fun.
I decided I’d put the babies in the stroller and somehow get
them onto the back porch, then the toddlers and I could play in
the backyard. All went well until I opened the back door. (see
picture) So we decided to go out front instead. We had to stay out front though, since I can’t
get the stroller through the snow into the backyard. Everyone
was pretty happy to just play in the driveway anyway. Lex
ventured over to our front porch, which clearly hasn’t been
shovelled in awhile. In the summertime he likes to climb up
onto the railing and ring the bell. Today he was amused that he had to bend down to
ring the bell :) Eve was less than thrilled by the whole
outing. I took her out of the stroller and put her in the
driveway, but she can’t really move in her snowsuit. Then (poor
girl!) a big hunk of snow fell out of the tree and landed right
on her head. It was awful. She wailed and I tried really hard
not to laugh. We got out without any screaming, stayed out for
45 minutes with minimal screaming, and made it back in again
with no fuss. I wish I could do that every day. I can’t wait
for summer when we can just go out without the 1/2 hr
prep.
