Joy to the World

I haven’t been in much of a blogging mood lately. Sorry. I’m sure that will change soon. I’m sure I have pictures on the camera that could be uploaded, but I’m just not in the mood. So, to tide you over for a bit… here is Eve’s version of Joy To The World. She loves to sing and does a great job learning words. We were singing at lunch the other day and she said

“Hero’s the world with twos and twigs”

I couldn’t help laughing. She made me repeat the real words over and over until she got them. I love that she tries so hard and that the words, real or not, don’t make much sense to her so she has trouble telling what’s what. I think grown-ups often have this problem too.

All about Eve

Lex went back to school this week, but Eve doesn’t go back until the 18th, so we have been spending a lot of time together lately. Hence all the pictures of her. :) I’m enjoying my little friend. I took her to a WW meeting with me today and she was perfect. She sat still and quiet, eating her snack, she laughed with the group and at one point said very loudly “Look mom, the banana has a zero by it. That means it has zero calories!” The group laughed with her then. I love her!

Fashionable girl! This is what she wore to the WW meeting today.

All smiles!

snow angel eve

It's always fun to make snow angels.

snow angel

We left a beautiful snow angel in someone else's yard, right next to the bus stop :)

bandaids

Eve got cupcake band-aids for Christmas (from Santa mommy :) ) She has been putting band-aids on her toys, herself, me, and after quiet time today I discovered this. Believe it or not there are still more band-aids in that little box! (The purse is full of teeny tiny Little Pet Shop parts... they may be stuck in there forever!)

Photographer Eve

I think Eve really likes the new camera. I often hear her saying, “Ok now, smile. Say cheese!” to random dolls and toys in the living room. I’ll see if I can get the pictures off that camera tonight. Should be interesting :)

Taking pictures of dolls

Eve brushed the dolls' hair and then got them set up for a photo shoot.

Teddy

Eve went shopping with Alan to JC Penny's yesterday and came home with a teddy bear. Daddy is a push over :) Just kidding. It's soft and she loves it (teddy and daddy!)

I’m trying to get pictures off the kid camera now and it’s not working. I’ll have to wait until Linux tech support (Alan) is available to help.

Snow

We had a dusting of snow earlier this week and Eve was thrilled! She begged to go out. She put on her boots and snow pants and ran outside. She cleared off the car and caught snowflakes on her tongue. She was disappointed that we couldn’t build a snowman, or make a snow angel, or go sledding, or shovel the driveway, but overall I think she had fun. I promised her there would be more snow in the future :)

Eve, playing in the snow.

clearing off the car

She insisted on clearing off the car :)

I hear there is a lot more snow in upstate NY. I’m sure it will be headed this way soon enough. :)

Old post

I was all set to post some pictures of Eve playing in the snow (our first snowfall, which has already melted and apparently pales in comparison to Upstate NY), but alas technical issues have bested me. Where is my hubby to work his tech magic when I need him?!?! Oh, right, working his tech magic at WORK! Of course.

So, instead, here is a cute picture I’m going to show Eve when she wakes up and a link to a blog post I happened upon while looking for the picture. It ends with “She’s such a joy. How did we get so lucky with her??” That statement still holds true today!!

More than happy – December 6, 2007

Off to make snack and then meet Lex at the bus stop. Eve and I made gingerbread dough this morning… can you guess what we’ll be doing this afternoon? :) Eve helped by licking and sampling everything I would let her. Sugar/butter = yummy; all purpose flour = yummy; spoonful of cloves = not so yummy! :0

Today

We had a nice day today. Started with surprise candy in the advent boxes (gold coins) and then we played and exercised and played and napped and decorated and had a nice day. Here are a few pictures for you :)

the mayflower

Lex apparently learned about The Mayflower in school. Although he didn't learn quite enough because he told me today it was the ship that brought the Indians to England... good thing he still has a few more years of education to complete :)

He added a bit more detail.

me

I wanted a picture of Eve and I wearing Santa hats, but she refused (see more below) so Lex took a nice picture of just me :)

christmas lights

We went on a Christmas light walk tonight. The kids wanted to see our window lights from the outside, then we kept walking. This picture is my neighbor's house.

Eve seems to have developed a case of camera shyness lately. When she does sit for a picture it’s usually a pretty forced smile, but most of my pictures of her these days look like this:

Tomorrow we get the Christmas tree! I’m so excited! Have I mentioned that I love Christmas!??! :)

Crazy Eve

This is what I’m dealing with these days:

“I want to be a toy when I grow up. And have a pumpkin head. And you can make me into a shoe.”

She tells me this out of the blue at lunch today. She’s so crazy! I babied the heck out of her today and she LOVED it! I had her laying on a blanket on the kitchen floor while I made lunch. She kicked her legs and cooed. I gave her a chew toy and a rattle. When she rolled over I gave her big hugs and cheers and encouragement. She basked in the baby love :)
