Beautiful day for a photo shoot

Today was a beautiful day, sunny and not
too cold. Lex and I went out this morning and did some
shovelling. The snow is incredibly deep. We may never see lawn
again, and if we get one more big storm we may not be able to
see out our windows!! (ok, just a little exaggeration)

A bit later Eve was playing by the window and
the sun was shining in on her. I grabbed the camera. Here are a
few shots:

The view
from our front window.

Please
disregard the snotty nose :) I’m too tired (lazy) to edit the
photos.

Eve has
the weird new crinkled up nose face that I think is a bit
disturbing but Alan thinks it’s hysterical. We were trying to
get her to do it for the camera, but could only get a bit of
it. Sometimes her nose gets even more crinkled up. It’s hard to
explain. I always find myself wanting to smooth out her face
and make it all better :)

Today’s achievements

On the recovering end of a cold Eve still
managed two big accomplishments today. 1) She cut a new tooth.
That makes two! And 2) she climbed up our step stool in the
bathroom this afternoon and then onto Lex’s toddler bed this
evening. She was really tired and basically waiting for me to
get done with Lex after the bath. She grabbed her doggie and
made an effort at getting into her crib (unsuccessful, of
course) so she went over to his bed and climbed in :) She’s so
adorable!!

Alan is reading them stories
now and Lex and Eve are so adorable. They’re both holding their
doggies and Lex is very silly tonight. For several minutes he
was trying to pull the words off the pages of the books. Eve is
reading her own little book and patiently waiting her turn.
They’re so sweet!!

Happy 11 months to Eve

Can you believe we’re coming up on a year
already!! She’s getting so big and so very happy. Last night
she was reading John Grisham, how’s that for advanced! :) She
didn’t seem to care for it much though, probably a little too
gritty for her taste. We’re celebrating the day by doing not
much of anything. We’ll end it with dinner with some friends,
so maybe she’ll enjoy that. Probably not since it will be past
her bedtime and no where near her bed. Oh well.

She’s so mobile these days, walking everywhere
with just the smallest bit of support. She also talks up a
storm and I think she’s started singing recently. She knows
several baby signs (daddy, more, all done, bye (kind of), and
down). She also has some phrases that aren’t clear, but
definitely sound like phrases, her favorite being “there she
is!” (have I posted about this before, it sounds familiar as I
type) She has also started climbing on things, such as the high
chair, hearth, and stools. She has definitely reached that age
where you have to watch them closely because baby goes up,
anything she can reach comes down, and anything that will fit
goes in the mouth. All together makes for a interesting age :)
And she is an amazing baby!

Bound to happen

I had a daycare kid here Thursday who was
coughing and sneezing all over everything, including one big
sneeze right on Eve’s head! Every time he sneezed I winced,
knowing full well that this was the beginning of the end of
healthy. Now we’re all sniffling and Eve is outright sick :(
Lots and lots of snot! Yucky!! Wish me luck in containing it. I
dread becoming a daycare where everyone is sick all of the
time.

Tantrums

And speaking of learning, Eve has been
trying out one of Lex’s tantrum moves lately. When he has a
half-hearted tantrum he’ll drop to the floor and put his head
down (butt up, head down, sob, etc.) The past few days when Eve
doesn’t get what she wants she’ll slap the floor and put her
head down :) Cracks me up really. She doesn’t really cry, just
puts her head down for a bit then looks up to see if she’s
getting a reaction. So funny. Probably not the reaction she’s
hoping for.

Reading

Lex is totally reading these days. It
amazes me. He likes to read the paper with me in the morning
and he sees words, sounds them out, and gets so excited :) He
read “Food Store” yesterday and then asked for help with
“Specials.” We read the comics together and he read “My dad got
a” in Baby Blues, but gave up on “speeding” and asked for help.
The longer words are tougher (obviously) because he can sound
them out, but forgets the beginning by the time he gets to the
end :) Alan says he has that problem too! It’s just amazing to
watch him go. He points out signs to me and even asks questions
about them (“no what?” he says, pointing to a No Parking sign).
My sister bought a bunch of Sunday papers while she was here
and Lex spent Monday with the papers spread all over the living
room floor. He walked around looking at them and pointing out
words. He’s also starting pointing out the page numbers. The
other day he said, “An that’s B5, yeah!” (still very self
congratulatory). I had to ask, “B5? What is B5?” and he pointed
right to the page number. I know I’ve said it before, but it’s
just so cool to watch little brains learn and grow.

Big movies

Lex was dancing to the alphabet song. His
dancing amuses me. He does a lot of dancing these days.

Eve managed to stick her waffle to her head and she was
pretty pleased with herself. I grabbed the camera, but the
waffle fell off before I could get a picture. Here is several
minutes of Eve being silly and me hoping to get a shot of her
with a waffle on her head.

Lovely Saturday

Rosy is in town this weekend, always a
good time. We went to Parrish’s birthday party and had fun
playing in the snow and ate a delicious spread of brunch food.
It was nice. Rosy took some good pictures :) The party was
right during Lex’s nap, so he was silly and exhausted, but he
held up really well! After the party we stuck them in the car
and drove to the Gorge so Rose could take some pictures, but
more so Lex could take a nap :) A successful trip for all. A
successful day for all.

Off to
the party!

Lex was
soo silly! His giggles entertained the crowd.

There’s
the tooth!! Great shot Rose!

Like the
outfit?
