We took an awesome trip to Ruggles Mine today. We loaded up Grampy Don’s big old truck and headed out. The drive turned out to be longer and more interesting than we were expecting, but we arrived eventually, just in time to have lunch. Then down into the mine we went! There was tons of shiny minerals and rocks. Eve is a HUGE rock collector. My car is generally filled with rocks. She picks them up everywhere we go, regardless of whether they are “wild” rocks or “cultivated” rocks that someone has paid good money to properly place. Eve will heist them and bring them home. She was in heaven here! We originally said she could take what she could carry, but we had barely entered the mine when her bag was heavier than she could carry. I loved her enthusiasm so I happily volunteered to carry her bag. We all had a great time!
- All loaded up and ready to go!
- I wasn’t expecting that the mine entrance would be at the top of the world!
- The view was amazing!
- First things first, food!
- In we go!
- Beautiful!
- Crazy man with two hammers! Eve took this picture. :)
- Grampy Don gave Lex a rock excavating kit for his birthday and Lex loved it. He ran around today with the magnifying glass, getting a close view of the rocks.

- Eve trying to carry her bag of rocks.
- Exploring a cave
- Trees grow in the strangest places. This is a view looking straight up!
- This is a view looking back towards the entrance.
- Lex lost his safety goggles so he and Alan went looking for them. Fortunately the found them!
- This would have looked nice in our lawn! :)
- Happy miners
- Eve carried this rock with her the whole way back up to the top.
- A well deserved rest!
- We stopped for a mid-afternoon lunch on the way home. Eve was spastically tired. Grampy Don got his exercise today!
Sorry for the gallery view. I don’t normally like this format, but there are a lot of pictures and it’s tired and I’m late. <-- Hahaha, yep, that's it!

wow! what a great day! i miss the warm weather— (not HOT)…… first thing first, food. I LOVE IT
This landscape always reminded me of Egyptian salt mines or something prehistoric! Can’t wait to see the rock collection…
Looks like a fun adventure!
