A party day

We had a fun, but mixed up day yesterday. Lex and I went to WW in the morning and then went for haircuts, but they couldn’t fit us in, so we came home. We played for a bit and then went next door for Parrish’s birthday party. His mom said only a few people had RSVPed, but almost his entire class was there. It was great! The kids were all so well behaved, the food was plentiful (it always is at their parties!) and it was nice to be able to socialize with the parents that chose to stay. When it was time for cake all the kids ran to the kitchen and Lex ran into the farthest away room possible. He still is not one for the Happy Birthday song. He came out for a piece of cake once the crowd cleared out. Then they opened presents. It was fun to watch the kids start off sitting comfortably on the couch and then slowly creep their way forward until, about half way through, they were all piled on top of each other and we had to “reset” them back on the couch, only to begin the excited creep forward again! :) The party was from 11am-2pm, right at naptime for this family. Eve got pretty angry when I suggested leaving her home for a nap, so she came and partied hard with the rest of them. She almost fell asleep in my arms at one point, but she rallied for cake.

When we got home around 2pm, Alan was just getting ready for work. I put Eve down for a nap at 2:30 and Alan read to Lex, who quickly fell asleep. Then Alan went to work and the kids napped from 2:30-4:30ish. I normally wake them up before 4:00, but decided to let them go this time due to the late start and the fact that I was exhausted and enjoying the break!! When they got up we all exercised together (The three of us actually, Alan was at work) and it was almost 7pm by the time we got around to dinner. Normally they are in bed between 7:00 and 7:30pm, but last night it was 8:45 before they were in bed! I think it would have been even later if they hadn’t done such a great job exercising with me. Everyone had fun.

On the way home she took a quick break to stomp on the snow in front of the garage, what little of it is there.
