baby panda… mommy… big brother… daddy… etc.
Eve is a very creative girl. Funny and creative. She likes to tell me stories that begin with “When I grow up to be a…” The other night she told me “When I grow up to baby panda, you can be my mommy and we can live in the zoo.” Or “When I grow up to be a big brother I can pee standing up like Lex.” I love the creativity and mixed thoughts.
This morning we had a very gender-stereotyped morning. Alan and Lex exercised in the office and I folded laundry. Eve “sewed” a pocket, “knit” me a hat, made a birthday party for her baby, and “washed” and “dried” baby’s blanket after “baby threw up on it.” So much domestic creativity packed into a short period of time.
Both of the kids like to play “monsters and ghosts” and spend ridiculous amounts of time finding ghosts and monsters. This game can entertain them for hours. Sometimes they step on the monsters and ghosts to squish them, other times they invite them in for dinner. The other day the kids “found” a ghost in my slipper. Turns out it was a baby ghost and it was her birthday! They made the baby slipper ghost a cake (a chocolate-watermelon cake) and threw a party. The creativity is amazing and, at times, amazingly funny!
