Deep breath… in… out… it’s been two
\n hours now and he’s still not taking a nap. He’s making a mess,
\n screaming, crying, throwing things, playing with toys, etc.,
\n but not sleeping. I’ve tried everything I can think of and it
\n doesn’t work. Sedating a toddler is off limits, right?? :) At
\n this point I don’t even want to get him up because he’s over
\n tired and will be a pain in the butt, but more so, I don’t want
\n him thinking that he just needs to outlast me to avoid taking
\n naps. Gah!! On the other hand, it’s getting pretty late for a
\n nap. If he does end up falling asleep I’m going to have to wake
\n him up shortly thereafter or let him sleep as long as he wants
\n and deal with this all over again at bedtime. I don’t think
\n he’s old enough to stop napping though. Kids are supposed to do
\n that until kindergarten at least, right? Certainly longer than
\n this anyway… The worst part is that I have so much to do
\n around here and I can’t even think when he’s like this. I feel
\n so drained just from dealing with him that it pretty much
\n shoots my afternoon.<\/p>\n
Maybe I’ll just put
\n him in his room for an hour and let him do whatever the hell he
\n wants and then get him up if he’s not sleeping… will make for
\n some pretty crappy afternoons…<\/p>\n
Blah! I
\n have so many happy, nice things I want to post, but now I just
\n have a headache, and I’m eating too much and I’m crabby.
\n Amazing how an overtired toddler can do this to a (usually)
\n rational adult. Maybe I’ll get some time and energy to post
\n some nice thoughts later. <\/p>\n
