{"id":2019,"date":"2010-02-26T20:45:27","date_gmt":"2010-02-27T00:45:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/?p=2019"},"modified":"2010-02-26T20:45:27","modified_gmt":"2010-02-27T00:45:27","slug":"power-less-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/?p=2019","title":{"rendered":"Power-less day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We lost power last night at 1am.\u00a0 I know it was 1am because Lex woke in a panic because his clock &#8220;went black.&#8221;\u00a0 He was sick last night (fever, no vomit) and he was oddly raring to go at 1am.\u00a0 He snuggled into our bed and none of us could sleep well.\u00a0 Too quiet.\u00a0 And a little scary when the wind howled and the raid pounded down.\u00a0 Then we started hearing odd noises and voices outside.\u00a0 I got up and peeked out the window and saw flashlights moving around.\u00a0 Alan opened the window and yelled to our neighbors to see if all was ok.\u00a0 Their basement was flooding so Alan went out to help.\u00a0 Lex and I stayed in bed and talked about EVERYTHING!\u00a0 He was concerned about the weather, the moon (the rain stopped and a bright moon came out), his neighbor friend floating away (his bedroom is in another part of the basement), electricity, why the power was out, etc.\u00a0 It went on and on.\u00a0 I enjoyed it for a long time, but eventually tried to get him settled down.\u00a0 One sweet quote from Lex, &#8220;It&#8217;s a good thing the sun doesn&#8217;t need electricity!&#8221;\u00a0 That was his comment after I told him that we wouldn&#8217;t need candles and flashlights all day because eventually the sun would come up.\u00a0 He wanted nothing to do with sleeping, but I started dozing.\u00a0 When Alan came back Lex said, &#8220;Dad, I have some hugs and kisses waiting for you!&#8221;\u00a0 I happily rolled Lex over to Alan&#8217;s side of the bed and I fell asleep&#8230; for 2 hours until Eve woke up screaming at 6am!\u00a0 Not sure why she was screaming, but it was 6am so we got up.\u00a0 I forgot to mention that both of them had gone to bed at 6:30 the night before, so by 6am she was wide awake.\u00a0 Eve and I got up and had breakfast by candle light while Lex and Alan slept for awhile, then Alan went to work.\u00a0 Lex eventually woke up at 10am!\u00a0 We had given him another dose of medicine at 4am so he slept well.<\/p>\n<p>The whole day was just slightly off.
