I had my 28wk checkup today. I think I’m
\n only 27 1\/2 weeks, but close enough. Baby is doing great. The
\n midwife found its heartbeat immediately and was impressed with
\n how strong it is. I’ve given up weighing myself since we moved
\n here, so I was surprised with my weight gain, but whatever. I
\n just need to be sure to loose it all after this baby! (famous
\n last words, huh?) <\/p>\n
We had a great
\n holiday. This year Lex understands presents and how to open
\n them, but doesn’t yet have the expectations of Christmas. I
\n thought that made for a nice combination. He got lots of toys
\n and stuff. <\/p>\n
I’m pretty sure he woke up
\n from his nap yesterday about 6 times smarter than he went to
\n bed too. He suddenly is using question words, counting to 20
\n (skips a few in the teens, but real close), and speaking in
\n sentences. It’s weird, but cool. The midwives today were
\n surprised that he’s only 19 months (even though one of them was
\n there at his delivery!) <\/p>\n
The other
\n midwife is new (still in training, I think) and she commented
\n on how neat it must have been to be born on the Farm. I thought
\n that was funny. I mentioned it with my first pregnancy and I
\n guess now it’s in my permenant record :) She was gushing about
\n how Ina May is her inspiration.<\/p>\n
One
\n thing I learned today at my appointment is that the rumor that
\n 2nd babies come faster is very accurate. And it’s accurate per
\n person, not just on average. They said that since my labor with
\n Lex was so quick I should make a point to come to the hospital
\n sooner with the next baby and they would likely admit me
\n earlier because they will be anticipating a fast delivery.
\n Cool! Can’t let myself get too excited, but let’s hope it works
\n out that way :) <\/p>\n
