{"id":14755,"date":"2016-03-24T10:16:44","date_gmt":"2016-03-24T15:16:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/?p=14755"},"modified":"2016-03-25T14:03:59","modified_gmt":"2016-03-25T19:03:59","slug":"meet-out-new-friend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/?p=14755","title":{"rendered":"Meet our new friend!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I picked up our new doggie today!\u00a0 The kids have a half day today so I picked him up early to give him a chance to settle and explore before they get here.<\/p>\n<p>He wasn&#8217;t very happy to leave his other doggie friends behind.\u00a0 Actually, Rosie really wanted to come along.\u00a0 She was a big help getting him in the car, but then we had a hard time getting her back out!\u00a0 She tried to hide on the floor boards in the front seat.\u00a0 :)<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160324_0903022.jpg.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"20160324_090302~2.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160324_0903022.jpg.jpeg\" alt=\"image\" width=\"500\" height=\"599\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">We almost had two dogs &#8212; exactly what Eve was hoping for!<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160324_0905372.jpg.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"20160324_090537~2.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160324_0905372.jpg.jpeg\" alt=\"image\" width=\"500\" height=\"586\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">This guy is a very nervous traveler! And very drooly in the car!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Look at him shake! He did that for the whole half hour trip home! Poor pup.<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Fc8MntYkJ38?rel=0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>I took him for a short walk at their house before putting him in the car, but he didn&#8217;t not want to go too far from the house without his puppy friends with him. When we got home I took him for a walk up and down the street a few times (had to go back with a plastic bag!) He sniffed everything and peed on a few mailboxes. Checking out his new world.<\/p>\n<p>When we came in Daisy was already inside and quite surprised by this new thing in her house. I kept him on the leash so he couldn&#8217;t chase her, but she immediately established herself as the alpha! She hissed and swiped at him. He shirked. Poor pup. I thought she would run away, but nope, she stuck right near by and kept a close eye on him.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160324_1000202.jpg.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"20160324_100020~2.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160324_1000202.jpg.jpeg\" alt=\"image\" width=\"500\" height=\"665\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">We know who has the claws around here!<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160324_1004172.jpg.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"20160324_100417~2.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160324_1004172.jpg.jpeg\" alt=\"image\" width=\"500\" height=\"768\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hehe&#8230; they sent his puppy bed with him, but I think he&#8217;s a little big for it. :) I stuck it in his crate to help him feel at home.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160324_1004242.jpg.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"20160324_100424~2.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160324_1004242.jpg.jpeg\" alt=\"image\" width=\"500\" height=\"662\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Daisy kept a close eye on this new thing. Whenever he got too close, the hiss and claws came out! He gave her a wide berth!<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160324_1021112.jpg.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"20160324_102111~2.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160324_1021112.jpg.jpeg\" alt=\"image\" width=\"500\" height=\"598\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">For some reason he really wants this bully stick to be on the bed. I keep moving it and he keeps bringing it back.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/wp-1458832523763.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"wp-1458832523763\" src=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/wp-1458832523763.jpeg\" alt=\"image\" width=\"500\" height=\"535\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Can you see her on the chair? I don&#8217;t know what the technical term is, but basically he is submitting to the cat. Clearly she is alpha. :)<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160324_1035272.jpg.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"20160324_103527~2.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160324_1035272.jpg.jpeg\" alt=\"image\" width=\"500\" height=\"666\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Even when I put him in the crate, she kept watch. I eventually sent her outside to give him a break. :)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Nuoska got his payback by eating all the food in her bowl. :) I think we&#8217;re going to have to move her bowls up high.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160324_1109232.jpg.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"20160324_110923~2.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160324_1109232.jpg.jpeg\" alt=\"image\" width=\"500\" height=\"606\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">I got up to get a drink and returned to find him in my cozy spot on the couch.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/wp-1458832440304.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"wp-1458832440304\" src=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/wp-1458832440304.jpeg\" alt=\"image\" width=\"500\" height=\"704\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">I took him off the couch, but he found somewhere better. :)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>When I went back to the couch (to finish this blog post!) he followed me and hopped up onto the other couch where he is sleeping peacefully now.  He seems pretty happy here so far.  We&#8217;ll see what happens when the very excited children come home!  <\/p>\n<p>Oh, one other thing, we still need to agree on a name for him.  Everyone agrees that Nuoska is a girl&#8217;s name (it&#8217;s Finnish for something&#8230;) but no one can agree on a better name.
