{"id":13106,"date":"2015-04-07T20:40:40","date_gmt":"2015-04-08T01:40:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/?p=13106"},"modified":"2015-04-07T20:40:40","modified_gmt":"2015-04-08T01:40:40","slug":"we-have-maple-syrup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/?p=13106","title":{"rendered":"We Have Maple Syrup!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/wpid-img_20150325_180308.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_20150325_180308.jpg\" class=\"aligncenter size-full\"  alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/wpid-img_20150325_180308.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Last month we tapped two maple trees in our front yard.&nbsp; We had high hopes, but the weather didn&#8217;t cooperate and the sap flowed slowly.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>Today we finally had enough sap, and time, to boil!&nbsp; <\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/wpid-wp-1428456631071.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"wp-1428456631071\" class=\"aligncenter size-full\"  alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/wpid-wp-1428456631071.jpeg\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Forty minutes into the process.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We started with 20 cups of sap.&nbsp; It took about four hours to boil it down to the 219\u00b0 &#8220;aproning&#8221; stage.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/wpid-wp-1428456769235.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"wp-1428456769235\" class=\"aligncenter size-full\"  alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/wpid-wp-1428456769235.jpeg\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Checking for doneness.  The book says it should slide off the spatula in a smooth sheet, or &quot;apron&quot; when it&#39;s done.  Not there yet.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/wpid-wp-1428456857604.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"wp-1428456857604\" class=\"aligncenter size-full\"  alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/familyblog.datdec.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/wpid-wp-1428456857604.jpeg\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Done!  I think.
