The frosting didn&#8217;t come out right, for the second time!  I didn&#8217;t have enough chocolate for the whole cake, but I didn&#8217;t have enough pink frosting either so I was mentally trying to figure out how to split it.  The cupcakes didn&#8217;t come out of the pan well so the towers are crooked and lumpy.  Etc.  <\/p>\n<p>Suddenly Lex came crashing in (he was in high gear all evening!) and said, &#8220;Wow Mom!  That is an <em>awesome<\/em> cake!&#8221;   He lifted my spirits right up!  <\/p>\n<p>A bit later Eve came in to &#8220;help,&#8221; but I wasn&#8217;t quite ready for her.  While she waited she grabbed the princess cookbook that inspired the cake.  Opening the book she said, &#8220;Mom, it doesn&#8217;t look anything like the picture.&#8221;  Uh oh, I thought, scrambling for something to say.  Luckily she followed it quickly with, &#8220;<em>It looks so much better!<\/em>&#8221;  Whew!  <\/p>\n<p>I still think it looks pretty awful but both kids love it and really that&#8217;s all that matters.<\/p>\n<p><em>It reminds me of years ago when we did a lot more drawing together and I was always so happy when they recognized my drawings.
