A little story

Eve had a plan with a friend today. She drove herself to Hanover (with me in the car!) and I dropped her off at the boba tea place to get a snack then go to the game store. I felt weird leaving her alone, and commented on it. As I spoke the words out loud, it occurred to me that in under a year she would be alone in a far away country! I’d better get used to her being in Hanover without me!

Time can slow down just a little. Please and thank you.

YouTube-in

Hi guys!  Some of you may know that Eve started a YouTube channel awhile back.  It’s super (not) exciting, but she loves it!  This week Lex decided to start a channel as well to show off some of his Minecraft creations.  It makes me sad that most of their creative juices are going into the computer these days.   I miss having cool kid work around the house (and also at the same time I don’t miss it at all), but it’s neat to see what they are coming up with digitally.  Eve is still finding her voice online with some videos about DYI stuff, some about video games, and some about Harry Potter.  She’s been “colabbing” with her buddy sometimes too.  Lex has one video posted so far about a Rube Goldberg-style Minecraft device, and he has lots of cool things already built in Minecraft that he’s hoping to record over the next few weeks.

Boots

Funny story…

Silly me…

I was looking for my boots this morning to take Arlo to the dog park. I couldn’t find them anywhere, but I noticed Lex’s boots still in the mudroom. Usually he wears his boots to school, so I assumed he had mistakenly put mine on this morning on his way out the door. I laughed at him and slid my feet into his boots. Guess what?! They are too big! My toes wiggled all around and had room to spare. Crazy!

… and Lex’s boots.

Then I got in the car and saw my boots on the seat, all packed up for skiing yesterday. D’oh! Lex must have worn his sneakers today. Silly me.

Lost tooth

Trying to get the kids in bed tonight. Thunder and lightening. Driving wind and rains. Everyone is unsettled. Finally the storm died down and I got them both in bed. Awhile later I hear Lex at the top of the stair, “Mom, I lost a tooth.” This is the second time he has lost a tooth that I didn’t even know was loose. I remember when a loose tooth was a big deal, but I guess no more. Tonight was the bottom, right canine. That boy is growing up fast.

Say what?!

“I like brightness.  It’s very good for my fallopian tubes,” said Eve this evening at bedtime.

Eve has been watching a lot of BrainPop lately.  Apparently she has discovered the puberty and period videos.  She has been asking a lot of questions.  I’m good at answering them, but really wish she was still a tiny baby I could scoop up in my arms and nuzzle her bald head.  Sigh.
